Botanical fragility, preserved in fired glass, developed in the Master’s in Drawing at FBAUL.
From the Ground to Glass was developed during a glass course within the Master's in Drawing at FBAUL. It began, as much of this practice does, with plants, collected, studied, and understood through drawing.
Those botanical forms were translated into plaster molds. Glass was placed inside each mold and fired in a specialized kiln, where heat and time fused the material into permanence.
The result is a collection of unique pieces that hold botanical delicacy in a new materiality, fragile forms made lasting, the ground rendered in glass.
